For the past 6 years Home Instead Senior Care has had a positive impact on our community by showing holiday cheer and providing over 6000 gifts to seniors who are least likely to receive a present during the holiday season.
Local Home Instead Senior Care® offices develop a “Be a Santa to a Senior” partnership committee consisting of non-profit organizations and community leaders.
The non-profit agencies provide the names of needy seniors as well as gift ideas that come from each senior.
Merchants then set up Christmas trees in their stores with pre-printed gift wishes on them from November 1st through December 11thth.
Customers in the participating store will pull a tag from the tree and purchase the gift(s) for the senior and leave it at the customer service desk to be picked up later.
The final gifts will be collected on December 11th and the committee members and volunteers will host a gift wrapping party on December 12th at the Oakville Town Hall.
Gifts are then distributed to the various facilities between December 13th and December 23rd.
